FINANCIAL INFORMATION
Questions on any information on this page should be directed to the Director for Finance & External Relations, 202-687-0143.
In order to assist students with the cost of graduate school, CLAS offers partial merit-based scholarships each year, as well as Foreign Language and Area Studies Fellowships. CLAS also strongly encourages students to apply for fellowships and grants through external agencies. For information on need-based aid, students should contact the Georgetown Office of Student Financial Services at (202) 687-4547.
GRADUATE SCHOOL TUITION
Georgetown University charges graduate tuition on a per credit hour basis. Therefore total annual tuition depends on the number of courses (credit hours) a student is taking. For Academic Year 2006-2007, the per credit tuition rate is $1,313. Therefore, given that full-time students normally take six classes (eighteen credits) per academic year, tuition is approximately $23,634 for the academic year. This charge does not include housing, food or books, nor does it include other Georgetown charges such as that for student medical insurance (approximately $1,900 per year) or use of the field house (approximately $280).
CLAS SCHOLARSHIPS
Foreign Language & Area Studies Fellowships
CLAS annually awards four FLAS fellowships to outstanding
members of the Georgetown graduate school community. These awards include
a full academic year tuition scholarship, plus a $15,000 stipend. CLAS
also awards two summer fellowships, which include a variable amount in
a tuition scholarship and stipend. Applicants must intensively study a
less-commonly taught language (with priority funding for the study of
Portuguese) in order to qualify for this award. Only US citizens or permanent
residents are eligible for these fellowships. Note: Actual award availability is
based on grants from the Department of Education.

Any offers of scholarship made to applicants for their first academic year are not automatically renewed for the second year in the program.
