    A conference on the Georgetown University campus with twenty-four academics and policy makers from around the world. The conference analyzed how the current Venezuelan situation reflects larger theoretical and policy issues that are influencing our understanding of the processes of economic and political liberalization throughout Latin America and the Caribbean.     A conference that convened a group of experts and policy makers to discuss the drivers of the political impasse and identify possible near and long-term scenarios for Venezuela. View Conference Summary.

    February 9, 2001
    A two-part conference on The Politics and Economics of Oil: Venezuela and Latin America. The conference explored both international and domestic implications of Venezuela's oil economy. Panelists included: Alvaro Silva Calderon, Jorge Giordanni, Dr. Alicia Puyana, Ambassador Jesus Reyes Heroles, and Bill Richardson.

    February 2000
    A day-long conference entitled The New Venezuelan Constitution: A New Model for Latin America that included three panels: "The Chávez Program in the New Constitution," "The Impact of the New Constitution on the Venezuelan Political System," and "A Panel Discussion on the New Constitution." Presentations were given by members of the Venezuelan Constitutional Assembly and distinguished academics from Venezuela and the US.
