Nelcy is a first year MA Latin American Studies student starting this Fall 2019 at the Walsh School of Foreign Service at Georgetown University. She recently graduated from Salisbury University with a Bachelors degree in Spanish Secondary Education and International Relations. As a senior at Salisbury University, Nelcy completed a teaching internship at Salisbury Middle School and Parkside High School with Wicomico County for 100 full days. During this Clinical Internship, she created lessons plans that provided students a non-traditional approach to acquiring the Spanish language. Activities included interpersonal and presentational tasks to allow students to communicate with his or her Latino community while having strong historical context of multiple Latin American countries. Nelcy was a Semi-finalist by the National Screening Committee of the Institute of the International Education for the 2019-20 Fulbright U.S Student Program as an English Teaching Assistantship to Colombia. As a new graduate student at Georgetown, she looks forward to expanding her knowledge in Latin America to work more with public affairs, public diplomacy and international education.
