On Thursday, April 4, 2024, three CLAS Visiting Researchers presented their work to the community and engaged in discussion about ongoing challenges in their research. Lutiana Valadares Fernandes Barbosa started off the session with her presentation titled Artificial Intelligence and Migration in Latin America: A Human Rights Perspective, discussing her work on the effects of A.I. at borders and throughout the migrant journey for those traversing the continent on their way north. Next, Carmen Rial shared her work titled Kicking Inequality: Charting the Path to Gender Equity in Brazilian Football, examining the experience of Brazilian football players, both at home and abroad. Finally, Carlos Aurélio Pimenta de Faria spoke on Foreign policy in South America after the Pink Tide: Tracking change beyond the ideological divide. Following the three presentations, the CLAS community engaged in discussion about the challenges and findings of the work in their respective stages and progress.
