In addition to twenty M.A. degrees, an additional seven minors and four Graduate Certificates in Latin American Studies were awarded in the commencement ceremony of May 17. The Ambassador of Brasil, H.E. Maria Luiza Ribeiro Viotti, addressed and congratulated the graduates and their families on their achievements. In her remarks, the Ambassador highlighted the historic relationship of Brasil to CLAS and Georgetown University, the significance of CLAS hosting the Ruth Cardoso Fulbright Chair each year, and encouraged graduates to continue contributing to the analysis and the understanding of the region in their professional careers. In her remarks, CLAS Director, Professor Diana Kapiszewski, thanked the graduates and their families, naming their accomplishments and encouraging them to continue their contributions through research and action to the development of the region as they leave the Hilltop.
