Presentation: “Disparities in Genetic Cancer Risk Assessment in Latinas”

Presenter: Dr. Alejandra Hurtado de Mendoza is an Associate Professor at the Cancer Prevention and Control Program at Georgetown Lombardi Comprehensive Cancer Center. She is a bilingual Social Psychologist with expertise in community-engaged research, mixed methods, and Implementation Science. Her research focuses on developing culturally tailored interventions to reduce disparities in genetic cancer risk assessment among underserved ethnically/racially diverse populations.

Abstract: In the presentation I will (1) discuss ethnic/racial disparities in genetic cancer risk assessment, (2) discuss psychosocial and healthcare barriers (3) and present an example of a culturally tailored narrative intervention to decrease disparities.
