Title: Anna Deeny at Brown University and the Library of Congress

In November, Professor Anna Deeny Morales gave a reading of her translations of Uruguayan poets Amanda Berenguer and Idea Vilariño at the Library of Congress along with Seth Michelson, Jesse Kercheval, Uruguayan poet Silvia Guerra Días, and Jeannine Pitas. This reading was part of a lecture on International Literature: Uruguayan Poets organized by the Library.

Professor Deeny also gave a reading of her translations of Chilean poet Raúl Zurita at a conference titled A Restless Melancholy, Celebrating Forrest Gander. Other conference participants included Chinese poet Bei Dao, Chilean Professor Paulina Wendt, US writer Laura Mullen, Raúl Zurita, U.S. writer Eliot Weinberger, and New Directions poetry editor, Declan Spring. Professor Deeny also had the pleasure of visiting two classes at Brown to speak of Latin American poetry and translation.
