Bio: Eliane graduated from the University of Toronto with a double major in Sociology and Peace, Conflict and Justice, after moving there from Lima, Perú in 2019 to complete her studies. She was born and raised in Lima, with family roots in the northern coast and southern Andes of Perú. During her undergraduate studies, she interned at the OAS in the Department of Human Development, Education and Employment, worked as a research assistant on projects concerning Central American migration, LGBTQ activism in the Middle East, and environmental NGOs’ decolonial efforts in Tkaronto [Toronto], and volunteered with IIEP-UNESCO Dakar. Since arriving at Georgetown, she has worked as a Research Assistant at SIGLA, an online database on legal and political institutions in Latin America, and interned with ProDiálogo, a civil association promoting dialogue for sustainable development and peacebuilding in Perú. She has also conducted interviews on the police intervention at the UNMSM during the Toma(s) de Lima. She is now a second-year M.A. student in Latin American Studies and intends to pursue a Ph.D. in Sociology to explore social mobilization, gender, extractivism, and indigeneity in Latin America, bridging research with local activism and public policy.
