Bio: Laura Fuentes is a first-year Master’s candidate in Latin American Studies at the Walsh School for Foreign Service at Georgetown University. In May of 2026, she received her B.A. in International Relations, along with completing a minor in Latin American and Caribbean Studies, from the University of Maryland. At the University of Maryland, Laura served as President of La Familia, Ambassador to the Student Leadership Advisory Council, and Founder/Co-President of PUENTES, a peer mentoring network aimed at first generation and multi-ethnic students. Along with her academic pursuits, Laura has completed various internships in the multilateral and diplomatic sector. Most notably, she completed an eight month long internship at the Embassy of the Dominican Republic and was apart of the summer cohort of interns at the Organization of American States. There, she served as the intern for the Department of Human Relations in the OAS Internship Program Section. During her time at Georgetown, Laura hopes to deepen her understanding of the Caribbean Region, multilateralism, and how the history of the Latin American region gives rise to the international landscape the region is experiencing today.
