Latin America Research Seminar (LARS): Matias Spektor on Building the Latin American Transnational Surveillance Database (LATS)
Presented by Matias Spektor, a Fellow at the Georgetown Americas Institute
On Wednesday, October 25, Professor Matias Spektor presented his current research to students and faculty of the CLAS community. Following his presentation, attendees were able to ask questions and contribute to a dialogue about this ongoing project concerning transnational surveillance in Latin America. The database presented (LATS) is a micro-level dataset based on declassified foreign surveillance reports produced by autocratic Brazil over two decades (1966-1986). To learn more about the project, visit the event description under our LARS page. Thanks to Professor Spektor and the community for a productive and engaging conversation!
