Eva Goethals
Class of 2026
Hometown: São Paulo, Brazil
Bio: I am a senior at Walsh School of Foreign Service, majoring in International Economics with a minor in Latin American Studies and pursuing a Certificate in International Business Diplomacy. I grew up in Brazil, which sparked my academic and personal interest in Latin America’s political economy and development challenges that I have explored through various courses during my undergraduate studies. At Georgetown, I have conducted research with SIGLA (States and Institutions of Governance in Latin America), focusing on institutional design and accountability in the region. Professionally, I have worked with Veolia North America on their Government Affairs and Corporate Sustainability team, supporting projects at the intersection of energy, water, and waste policy, and with SEOS Energy, a solar financing company expanding renewable energy access in Latin America. These experiences deepened my interest in how energy markets and financial systems shape growth and inequality in the region. I am registered for my last two high level requirements for the minor, and will be doing my thesis this semester as well.
