Democracy in the Americas Project Panel: “Democratic and Legal Regression in the Americas”

About: CLAS and the Georgetown Americas Institute (GAI) hosted a panel to discuss democratic and legal regression in the Americas.

“Balancing Powers? Courts and Presidents in Brazil and the U.S.”: LAC Moments

When: Wednesday, Sept. 24, 12:30pm-1:30pm

Location: ICC 302-P

About: CLAS welcomed three discussants — Luciano da Ros, assistant professor in the department of sociology and political science at the Universidade Federal de Santa Catarina; Jon Ladd, associate professor of government and public policy at Georgetown University; and Elcior Santana, adjunct professor of Latin American studies at Georgetown University — for the semester’s first session of Latin American and the Caribbean Moments.

Presenter: CLAS welcomed Patricia Biermayr-Jenzano — adjunct professor in the department of science, technology, and international affairs (STIA); the Center for Latin American Studies; and the department of women’s and gender studies — for the first Latin American Research Seminar of the Fall 2025 semester.

Georgetown Americas Institute “State of Democracy in the Americas” Conference
