Bio: Jessica (Jess) Fernandez is a Mexican-American senior in the College double majoring in Economics and Spanish with a minor in Latin American Studies. She was born and raised in Hanford, California. Also, Jess has previous Hill and lobbying experience where she has worked on U.S.-Latin American trade, energy, and climate change issues. Notably, she is passionate about political economy issues in Mexico, U.S.-Mexico trade relations, and femicide advocacy. Jess will be centering her senior thesis on the relationship between NAFTA, USMCA, and femicide within Ciudad Juárez and analyze the Mexican government’s response to increased pressure to act on femicide.
