Hometown: Lawrence, Indiana

Bio: Liam Aranda is a second-year graduate student pursuing a Master’s degree in Latin American Studies at the Walsh School of Foreign Service. His concentration within the program is Political Economy and Development with a Certificate in Humanitarian Emergencies and Refugee Crises.

He graduated from Northwestern University with a B.A. in History and International Studies with a Minor in Portuguese. While at Northwestern, Liam studied abroad and conducted an Internship in Madrid, Spain for the Cátedra de Refugiados y Migrantes Forzosos for the Universidad Pontificia Comillas.

At Georgetown, Liam served as the CLAS Liaison and an Events Coordinator for the Latin American Foreign Affairs Association (LAFAA) through the 2020-2021 year. During Summer 2021, he served as a research intern for the Fundación Ciudadania Inteligente on their “Diverse Democracy in and for Latin America” project. Presently, he is conducting a Fulbright ETA grant in Brazil, where he assists the English Education program of the Universidade Federal do Acre in Rio Branco, Acre.
