Hometown: Caracas, Venezuela
Bio: Andrea, originally from Caracas, Venezuela, is a first-year Master’s candidate in Latin American studies at Georgetown University’s School of Foreign Service. She completed her undergraduate education at Goucher College and double-majored in Peace Studies and Political Science. She focused on International Relations, specifically addressing Southeast Asian extremism and terrorism. She graduated Cum Laude with honors in Political Science.
Andrea worked as a legislative intern with Congressman David Trone of Maryland’s 6th Congressional District and Congressman Raul Grijalva of Arizona’s 3rd Congressional District. Further expanding her expertise, she worked for two years on Brooke Lierman’s campaign for Comptroller of Maryland, initially as an intern and later as the candidate’s assistant.
In addition to her academic and professional pursuits, Andrea made significant contributions to her college community. She served as the Treasurer for the Student Government, founded a Hispanic/Latino club named MEHA (Movimiento Estudiantil Hispano Americano), and actively participated as a student organizer.
Andrea is passionate about various fields, including peace processes, conflict resolution, democratic regression, failed states, reconstruction, and authoritarian regimes. She wants to further her education through a doctoral program, ideally focusing on Peace Studies and aspires to work within a multilateral organization.
