Hometown: Barrancabermeja, Colombia
Bio: Daniec is a first-year student at Georgetown University, pursuing a Master of Arts degree in Latin American Studies. She graduated from Universidad de los Andes in Bogotá, Colombia, with a Bachelor's in Political Science. Daniec wants to be a social researcher to create socioeconomic programs that contribute to dignifying the lives of vulnerable populations. In this sense, her passion for analyzing, understanding, and explaining social phenomena goes hand-in-hand with her social activism. She has volunteered in non-profit foundations, political parties, and research projects about the homeless population, public forces, and gender violence.
Daniec chose to further her studies at Georgetown because she wants to understand the social realities, political and economic systems of most countries in Latin America, and the logic behind the most important Latin American policies, leaders, and actors. Furthermore, she wants to focus on political stability, international cooperation, and regional integration. Specifically, Daniec intends to identify the obstacles to regional cooperation and address them to have strong and sustainable integration projects.
