Ereni Roess
U.S. Department of State
Ereni Roess (CLAS '04) is a Foreign Affairs Officer at the U.S. Department of State, Bureau of Democracy, Human Rights, and Labor in the Western Hemisphere Office. During her nearly 20 years in the department, she has had a range of experiences from developing and managing counter-narcotics and law enforcement development programs, to formulating and monitoring the U.S. Government's institutional relationship with the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees. She also spent time on the Hill and at the U.S. Embassy in Brazil.
In a recent conversation with CLAS, Ereni reflected about the role CLAS has played in her professional life, saying: “Getting my Master's in Latin American Studies prepared me perfectly for this current position as I am working on the same issues that I studied in depth during my two years at GU. Studying with experts in the field, as well as spending several months in the region, solidified my interest in this topic and gave me the helpful background I needed to pursue a fulfilling career.”
