Nicholas A. Meissner

Hometown: Boston, Massachusetts
Bio: Nicholas was born in Boston, Massachusetts, before moving to seacoast New Hampshire at a young age. He graduated in 2020 from Saint Anselm College with a BA in International Relations and History as a dual major, with additional coursework emphasis on comparative politics and Latin American history in the twentieth century. After graduating, Nicholas joined the Immaculate Conception School in Newburyport, Massachusetts as a Social Studies teacher, where he taught grades 6-8 ancient history, theories on democracy, the World Wars era, and US government. Prior to teaching, Nicholas was an intern at the New Hampshire Institute of Politics (NHIOP) as a student ambassador, and he served as Chairman of the Model United Nations Delegation of Saint Anselm College for Harvard University. Nicholas has family in Ecuador and Germany where he has made extensive visits over the years, and he is fluent in English and has proficiency in Spanish and German.
Concentration: History, Culture, and Society.
Research Area - Substantive: US foreign policy, inter-American relations, drug trafficking in the Western Hemisphere, and democratic backsliding in the Pink Tide.
Research Area - Geographic: The Andes (Colombia, Ecuador, Peru, and Bolivia) and Central America.
