Global Experiences

Spring Break in Peru 2019

In recent years, CLAS has offered exciting opportunities for undergraduate experiences abroad. In 2019, CLAS offered Global Experience that provided undergraduate students with firsthand knowledge of contemporary Peruvian politics, economics, and culture, as well as Jesuit missions in Peru and the opportunity to connect with Peruvian students and educators.

Partnering with the Jesuit Universidad Antonio Ruiz de Montoya, we visited sites showcasing Jesuit work throughout the country and capital city. We began in Lima, where students partook in home-stays, and visited Jesuit schools for campus tours and lectures on the emerging economy as well as sustainable community development and government partnerships. Next, we traveled to Cuzco and spent a night in Andahuaylillas visiting a Fe y Alegría school. After a few days getting acclimated and learning more about Jesuit tradition and education in Cuzco, we got the chance to hike Machu Picchu before returning to Lima and flying home!
